Odyssey Navigator

The Odyssey Navigator utilizes the 810 nanometer wavelength, the proven technology in dental diode lasers. This wavelength has a high affinity for gingival (gums) soft tissue making it an invaluable tool for esthetic sculpting, accessibility, isolation and the healing of soft tissue. The patient care applications and advantages of the Navigator Laser are:

• Helps to promote healing in areas of periodontal disease and gingivitis (inflamed and bleeding gums)
• May also be used to shorten life-cycle of coldsores (herpes lesions)
• May heal faster when used for surgery such as gum lifts and second stage implant surgery
• Often eliminates need for stitches
• Sterile procedures

What Are Laser Periodontal Procedures?

The Odyssey Navigator 810 Diode laser is ideally suited for the treatment of gum disease. The laser therapy is initiated following initial scaling (cleaning) of the teeth and roots. The laser light is delivered to the area below the gum line using a flexible fiber optic, designed to focus energy and selectively reduce or eliminate bacterial colonization of the gum tissues and possibly delay the recurrence of bacteria in these areas.

What does it feel like?

The pressure required to work with the laser is almost non existent. A feather touch is needed for the movement during treatment.There is really no discomfort at all. Most patients feel nothing at all and are very relaxed during treatment.

More that one treatment is required to reassess the health of the tissue and completely remove the resilient bacteria.
