Periodontal Therapies
Dr. Waldman carefully evaluates every patient for the presence of Periodontal (Gum) Disease prior to treatment.
Should any patient be diagnosed with periodontal disease, Dr. Waldman will recommend treatment prior to the initiation of any restorative or cosmetic procedures. The reason for this is simple. It is always best to build on a strong foundation!
Since our gums and bone provide the foundation for our teeth, attempting to build a new smile on unhealthy gums is like to trying to build the CN Tower on a swamp!
With this in mind, Dr. Waldman is thrilled to announce her good fortune that Dr. Jonathan Adam has now joined her dental team. Dr. Adam is a board certified periodontist (gum specialist). When deemed necessary, Dr. Waldman will arrange a consultation for her patients with Dr. Adam right in her office so there is no need to be referred to another practice. This will eliminate with the associated inconvenience.
In addition to Dr. Adam’s joining the practice, Dr. Waldman is also one of only a handful of dentists in North America to add the Key 3 laser to her practice. This laser, used in the treatment of periodontal disease can often replace some types of uncomfortable gum surgery. This makes for more comfortable treatment and faster healing. The Key 3 laser is also capable of detecting and removing tartar (calculus) below the gumline. This calculus may be imperceptible to the hygienist , but the Key 3 laser with a special detecting secondary laser can actual “see” the calculus and is only activated only upon the presence of calculus. As an added benefit, these infected areas are also simultaneously and comfortably sterilized.
